The home insurance that fits your situation
There isn't one single way to live in a home, so there isn't one single home insurance either. Whether you're an owner, over 60, a landlord or renting, I have the option built for you, and I'll help you choose it at no extra cost.
- ✓ I look at your home and your real situation before suggesting anything
- ✓ I explain buildings, contents and cover with no jargon
- ✓ I'm still there the day you actually need to use your policy
Every home insurance starts from the same core.
Whatever the option, the core protection is similar: your home and everything inside it, protected against fire, water damage, theft and breakages, plus your civil liability if you cause damage to someone else, and 24-hour assistance for when something breaks and can't wait.
What changes is who it's aimed at and what it adds: there's an option built for the everyday needs of any owner, another with the highest level of cover possible, one designed for over-60s, and two specific options for renting — whether you're the landlord or the tenant.
How I work: I don't hand you a one-size-fits-all package. We talk about your actual home, and choose together the option and the cover you really need.
Main coverage.
Fire, explosion and lightning
The core of every home policy, including smoke damage and rebuilding an affected garden.
Water damage
Leaks, seepage and accidents, including locating and repairing the leak itself.
Theft, robbery and burglary
Inside the home, in storage rooms and garages, with specific cover for jewellery and valuables.
Breakages
Glass, mirrors, sanitary ware, ceramic hobs and worktops.
Civil liability
If you cause damage to someone else — your downstairs neighbour, for example — with legal defence included.
24-hour assistance
Emergency plumbing, locksmith, glazing and electrical work, plus multi-service and handyman support.
Buildings and contents: the number one question.
Buildings cover is the property itself — walls, ceilings, fixed installations, kitchen, bathrooms; contents cover is everything inside that you'd take with you if you moved: furniture, appliances, clothes, jewellery. If you own your home, you usually insure both; if you rent, you usually only need contents cover.
Getting this figure right — based on rebuilding cost, not market value — is what stops you from getting a nasty surprise the day you need to use your policy. It's exactly what I review with you before suggesting anything.
