What it is and what it's for

Funeral insurance, explained plainly.

In Spain, a funeral costs on average between €3,500 and €5,000 (indicative market figure; varies by province and type of service). Without insurance, that cost and all the paperwork fall on the family at the worst possible moment. With it, it's already sorted.

Full funeral service

Your family won't have to pay upfront or arrange anything at that moment.

Paperwork and admin

All the administrative side of a death, handled by the insurance team.

Support

Someone by your family's side at every step, not a cold administrative process.

24-hour assistance

Available at any time of day, right when it's needed most.

Cover and its specific limits are set out in your policy's terms. I'll explain them one by one before you decide anything.

The big difference

It's not just for the end. It's for everyday life.

Most people don't know this: this funeral insurance includes a package of services you and your family can use in life. Health, teeth, travel, pets, even a lawyer. What many families pay for separately, you already have included here.

Your GP, on a video call

A health worry at ten at night, on a weekend, or on holiday? Speak to a GP over video call, without leaving home and without a waiting room.

Would cost separately · €40–60 per consultation

Specialists when you need them

Cardiology, dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, pulmonology, rehabilitation, sports medicine, gynaecology, paediatrics, nutrition, psychology and psychiatry.

Would cost separately · €60–120 per consultation

Dentist included

Looking after your teeth stops being "I'll get round to it". You have dental services within your policy, for you and your family.

Would cost separately · €40–80 per check-up

Travel insurance

Travel with peace of mind. Your policy includes travel assistance cover, for the unexpected things nobody plans for but that can always happen away from home.

Would cost separately · €50–100 per year

Your pet, part of the family too

Because they're part of the household too: veterinary assistance and, when the time comes, a cremation service for your pet.

Would cost separately · €30–50 per consultation

A lawyer on your side

A legal question, a contract, a dispute with a landlord or a supplier? You have legal advice to consult before taking any step.

Would cost separately · €60–150 per consultation

Add up everything already included

Video-call GP, specialists, dentist, travel, pet and lawyer. Separately, that would add up to several hundred euros a year. Here it's included in a policy that, on top of that, gets your family's future sorted. That's the deal.

I want to know what it would cost me

Services, cover, limits and waiting periods are set out in the policy's general and specific terms. The amounts shown as "would cost separately" are indicative market prices for comparison purposes, not policy amounts. Micol will explain the exact scope of each service before you take out the policy.

Insurance designed for the whole family

You can include whoever you want to protect — you, your partner, your children, your parents — under the same policy, each with their own sum insured and terms. I'll help you decide who to include and for how much, so it's neither too much nor too little.

Cremation or burial: however you've already decided

Your policy respects your decision. Stating it now means your family won't have to decide — or argue about it — at a painful time. It's a small gesture that takes a huge weight off their shoulders.

Cover and price
What does funeral insurance cover? +
Funeral insurance covers the full funeral service and all death-related paperwork, so your family doesn't have to arrange or pay for anything. This policy also includes living benefits you can use from day one: video-call GP service, specialists, dentist, travel assistance, pet care and legal advice. The exact details are set out in your policy's terms.
How much does funeral insurance cost? +
The price mainly depends on the age of each insured person and the sum insured. As a guide, a funeral in Spain costs on average between €3,500 and €5,000, and the insurance spreads that cost into manageable instalments. The most useful approach is a personal calculation: tell me the ages involved and I'll give you your exact price, with no commitment.
Is there a waiting period? +
Some funeral insurance policies apply an initial waiting period, a time after taking out the policy during which certain cover isn't fully active yet. The exact terms depend on each policy and plan. I'll explain this clearly before you take it out, so you know exactly from when you're covered. What the waiting period really is and how to avoid surprises, in this article →
How do you pay? Increasing, level or mixed premium? +
You pay a periodic premium (monthly, quarterly or annual). There are different types — increasing, level or mixed — which make the premium evolve differently as you age. Each has advantages depending on your age and plans. I'll explain which one suits your particular case. I explain in detail which one suits each case here →
Is funeral insurance worth taking out? +
It's worth it if you want your family to avoid both the cost and the hassle of a funeral at a difficult time — on average, between €3,500 and €5,000 plus plenty of paperwork. With this policy, the living benefits (doctor, dentist, travel, pet, lawyer) also add value from day one, not just at the end.
Living benefits and personal decisions
Does funeral insurance really have any use during your lifetime? +
Yes, and that's its big difference. As well as planning for the future, it includes services you can use right away: video-call GP service, a panel of specialists, dentist, travel insurance, veterinary care for your pet and legal advice. What many families pay for separately is already included in this one policy.
What medical benefits are included? +
It includes a video call with a GP for everyday health questions, plus access to specialists: cardiology, dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, pulmonology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, sports medicine, gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics, nutrition, psychology and psychiatry. It's an extra layer of healthcare for the whole family, to the extent set out in your policy.
Is the dentist included? +
Yes. The policy includes dental services for insured people, so check-ups and dental care no longer get put off because of cost. The specific benefits and conditions are set out in the policy terms, and I'll explain them to you one by one before you take it out.
Does it cover my pet? +
Yes. It includes veterinary assistance and, when the time comes, a cremation service for your pet. This is an unusual cover for funeral insurance, and one that's highly valued by anyone who considers their animal part of the family. The exact extent is set out in your policy.
What's the difference between cremation and burial? +
Cremation reduces the body to ashes, which the family keeps or scatters. Burial is the traditional interment in a grave or niche. Neither is "better" — it's a personal, cultural or family decision. Stating your preference in the policy means your loved ones won't have to decide it at a painful time.
Your family and your questions
Can I include my whole family in the same policy? +
Yes. You can insure several people — you, your partner, your children, your parents — under the same policy, each with their own sum insured and terms. I'll help you decide who to include and for how much, so the cover matches your real situation without overpaying.
Up to what age can I take it out? And for my parents? +
It can be taken out across a wide age range, including for your parents or older relatives. For older people there's usually a specific plan (senior funeral insurance) with adapted terms. Tell me the ages involved and I'll point you to the best option for each family member.
What's the difference between funeral insurance and life insurance? +
Funeral insurance arranges and pays for the funeral service and its paperwork. Life insurance pays a sum of money to beneficiaries after death (or in the event of disability), without arranging the funeral itself. They're complementary: one handles "what to do", the other provides a lump sum. I'll help you see whether you need one, the other, or both. This article compares both in more detail →
What happens if I move house or my situation changes? +
Nothing to worry about: the policy moves with you. If you move house, your family changes, or your needs change, we'll review the policy together so it keeps fitting you. That's the advantage of having a personal advisor instead of a case number: I'm here for any adjustment, today and years from now.
Does asking for a quote commit me to anything? +
No. Asking for a quote is free and involves no commitment. You tell me about your situation, I prepare a clear proposal with the price up front, and you decide in your own time. No pushy calls, no pressure. You can message me on WhatsApp at 624 185 167 or fill in the form, and I'll reply within 24 business hours.
Changes, portability & special cases
Can I switch my funeral insurance from another company without losing what I've already paid? +
In most cases you can port your funeral insurance, although the terms (recognising seniority, waiting periods already served) depend on your current policy and the new one. I'll help you review your existing contract before making the move, so you don't lose any cover along the way.
What happens if I stop paying my funeral insurance premium? +
If you stop paying, the policy can be suspended or cancelled after the non-payment period set out in its terms, and you'd lose your cover. If you're having temporary difficulty paying, let me know before it gets to that point — there's almost always room to adjust the payment method or the sum insured.
What's the difference between the Comprehensive Funeral Plan and the Senior Funeral Plan? +
The Comprehensive Funeral Plan is the general option, designed for any age and for insuring the whole family together. The Senior Funeral Plan is adapted for older people, usually with more of a social focus and terms suited to that profile. I'll help you work out which one fits best depending on who's going to be insured. See the Comprehensive Funeral Plan → · See the Senior Funeral Plan →
Does funeral insurance cover a death abroad or while travelling? +
It depends on the repatriation or transfer cover included in your policy, which usually covers bringing the deceased back to Spain from abroad within certain limits. It's a point worth reviewing with you if you travel frequently or have family living outside the country.
Can I increase or reduce the sum insured later on? +
Yes, you can usually adjust the sum insured if your situation changes — for example, if you want to extend cover or add more family members. Each change may involve a review of the terms or the premium, so I'll explain it to you case by case before we change anything.
